Passports

It is important to apply for a passport immediately if your child does not have one. Adult chaperones will also need a passport.

According to the U.S. Department of State, processing times (as of May 6, 2024) are as follows:

  • Routine 10-12 weeks

  • Expedited 6-7 weeks (+ $60 fee)

According to the U.S. Department of State, passport fees (as of May 6, 2024) are as follows:

  • Adult (16+) $130 USD + $35 USD = $165 USD

  • Child (under 16) $100 USD + $35 USD = $135 USD

Documents Needed

According to the U.S. Department of State, documentation needed (as of May 6, 2024) are as follows:

  • U.S. Passport Application Form DS-11

  • Proof of Citizenship

  • Photo Identification

  • Passport photo

  • Fees

Children under 16 must present all the required documents of a first-time applicant. The child and both parents listed on the birth certificate must be present at the time of service. If both parents cannot be present, you will need to show more documents.

Travel Timeline

May 30: Submit completed Travel Commitment Form:

May 31: Travel Deposit Due ($50 USD/$20 USD*). Parent Chaperone Deposit Due ($50 USD).

June 3: Apply for passport if your child does not already have one. Routine processing usually takes 10-12 weeks. Adult chaperones will also need a passport. Adults who are interested in participating as an adult chaperone must complete a school district volunteer application.

August 6: Payment 1 Due ($275 USD/$115 USD*) assuming Travel Deposit is paid. Parent Chaperone Deposit Due ($325 USD) assuming Travel Deposit is paid.

October 1: Payment 2 Due ($275 USD/$115 USD*) assuming Travel Deposit and Payment 1 are paid. Parent Chaperone Deposit Due ($325 USD) assuming Travel Deposit and Payment 1 are paid.

You may choose to pay smaller or larger amounts ahead of the deadlines at any time.

*The second cost is for families who qualify for free or reduced lunch eligibility status.
